Caring for Your Glass Tumbler
Caring for Your Molly's Glass Tumbler
Your tumbler has been made and finished by hand, so a little extra care goes a long way in keeping it looking beautiful. Below you'll find everything you need to know about washing, storing, and handling your glass.
🧼 Washing Your Tumbler
We recommend hand-washing your tumbler in warm (not boiling) water with a mild washing-up liquid. Use a soft cloth or a long bottle brush to reach the base of the glass.
- Avoid harsh scouring pads or abrasive cleaners — these can scratch or dull the glass surface.
- Rinse thoroughly and allow to air-dry upside down on a clean drying rack.
- Do not soak for extended periods, as prolonged soaking can affect seals and finished surfaces.
🍽️ Dishwasher Use
We do not currently recommend placing your tumbler in the dishwasher. The high heat, harsh detergents, and water pressure used in dishwashers can affect hand-applied finishes, painted designs, and any adhesive seals on lids. We are reviewing dishwasher safety for our range — please check back for updates, or get in touch if you have a specific question about your tumbler.
🪄 Lid Care
Your tumbler lid is designed to create a snug, leak-resistant seal. To keep it working well:
- Hand-wash the lid separately with warm, soapy water.
- Remove any silicone seal or gasket where possible and wash it individually.
- Allow the lid and gasket to dry completely before reassembling — trapped moisture can cause odours over time.
- Do not twist or force the lid; a gentle press-and-turn is all that's needed.
🧃 Straw Care
If your tumbler came with a reusable straw:
- Clean after every use with the straw cleaning brush provided, or a small pipe cleaner.
- Rinse thoroughly with warm water and allow to air-dry fully before storing.
- Glass or metal straws may be cleaned with boiling water; check the material of your straw before doing so.
- Replace your straw if you notice any cracks, chips, or damage.
🎨 Hand-Finished & Painted Surfaces
Many of our tumblers feature hand-applied designs, decals, or painted motifs. These finishes are applied with care and pride — here's how to protect them:
- Avoid rubbing painted or decorated areas with abrasive cloths or scrubbing pads.
- Do not use nail varnish remover, acetone, or strong solvents near decorated surfaces.
- Some light fading may occur over time with regular use — this is normal for hand-finished items and adds to their handmade character.
- Handle with care when stacking or storing to avoid chips to decorative areas.
📦 Storage
- Store your tumbler upright on a stable, flat surface.
- If stacking is necessary, place a soft cloth or piece of kitchen roll between tumblers to prevent scratches.
- Keep away from the edges of shelves or worktops, particularly in busy kitchens.
- Store lids and straws separately, fully dry, to prevent mould or odour build-up.
🫶 Handling Tips
- Glass is naturally more fragile than plastic or metal — take care when handling on hard surfaces.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes (e.g. pouring boiling liquid into a cold glass). Allow the glass to reach room temperature first.
- Check for chips or cracks before each use. A damaged glass should not be used for drinking.
